IB MAGEE FACES FURTHER DELAYS

I wish I had better news. The bottom line is the bids that came in were so high that we do not have the money to even come close to finalizing the project. We are currently in the process of re-engineering the entire project to figure out how to best use the money we do have to get something going. We have pretty much given up working with FEMA and we are trying therefore to figure out a way to make it work within the budget we have. I will not give up until this project is on track.

HEALTH FAIRS SET FOR PORT ARANSAS AND VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL FREE HEALTH SCREENINGS AT SEASHORE A BIG SUCCESS

Please mark your schedule for the following free community health fairs:

Veterans Memorial High School- Wednesday May 15, 2019. This is a health fair in honor of our Veterans in conjunction with the school named in honor of our Veterans. It is free for the community.

Port Aransas High ISD-Friday May 17, 2019. This is open to the public in Port Aransas to help serve that community. Please attend.

Seashore Schools-I am very pleased to have sponsored again the free health screenings for Seashore Students recently. I have had the honor of doing this for several years and will continue to do so.

PARKER POOL UPDATE

There is a lot of work going on in preparation for the Parker Pool overhaul. You should start to see work in the next month or so. Many of the upgrades will not be visible to the eye as it entails re surfacing the pool, adding things that are needed to improve long term maintenance. But you be able to enjoy the pool sometime in May if all goes well. With weather and other unforeseen issues we will keep you posted on the progress.

MIKEL MAYS UPDATE

There is very little to update here. We do not have a definitive direction from the federal government and I am working with the County Judge and looking at any and all ways to continue to keep this very important community asset open and running. If I learn anything new I will let you know.

LONDON PROGRAMS BEING SPONSORED

I am pleased to be helping London ISD with some Bullying and Anti-Vaping programs that will be done throughout the school system. London ISD like all the school districts in my precinct do a great job of attempting to tackle a problem proactively. Way to go London!
